Raspberry Pi Enough for 1080p/HD Audio?
#1
I am looking to rip all my DVDs and Blu-Rays (1080p with HD audio) and using a Raspberry Pi XBMC to my Marantz receiver.

Anyone doing anything similar? Will it/does it work?

I think the Pi is capable but it cant handle bitstreaming HD audio yet. So it tries to decode the truehd streams or strip the DTS core from dts-ma which causes the pi to struggle. Once the code has been done to pass through HD audio it will be fine!! thats if it happens!!

DVDs are no problem (assuming it's not an ISO) if you buy the MPEG-2 codec.

If you rip your blu-rays with HD audio...disable the Settings->System->Audio Output->TrueHD Capable Receiver setting and just use DTS.

Edit: and one day DTS-HD passthrough may happen

One of the Pivos guys can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Pivos xios can now do HD audio on XBMC.
