Browsing EPG crashes XBMC v12
#1
I havent seen anyone report this so maybe its just me but for two days in a row I have been simply browsing through the EPG (only a few hours ahead) and then the lists go blank then a few seconds later XBMC closes itself. I am runnning the lastest version off the stable PPA on LinuxMint v14 (based on Ubuntu Quantal) with TVHeadEnd 3.2.34.

I have to be able to recreate it, I tried yesterday and it didn't break but fast forwarding a recorded TV programme did instead ( unfortunately I had just turned debugging off as I had given up trying to break it ). I have a feeling at the time there was no audio click happening when I was browsing around.

It might be the same issue I mentioned here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1281366

Sometimes it takes hours until the problem will occur, another time it happens after a few mins of browsing epg. Disabling the Notify function in void CGUIWindowPVRGuide::Notify(const Observable &obs, const ObservableMessage msg) was the dirty patch for me to avoid those freezes. Unfortunately I didn't had the time yet to look into it more deeply and most of all I'm afraid, my knowledge wouldnt be enough anyway. Wink

Btw, I think its not a real crash since audio keeps playing and the log will keep filling (sorry don't have a log for this right now)...just the screen is frozen. Oh and as I could see the playtime at the Epg Window, i noticed it happens at full minutes only. (I think thats when the EPG Update will be triggered somewhere)

I had two crashes today, the first one I was in the EPG and was adding a timer for a programme clicked yes on the confirm screen and XBMC closed. I started again turned on debuging had a play around in the epg no issues, watched a movie then went back to the epg. I noticed that some of the programmes were for a long period (off the screen) and for some reason I could not scroll past it unless I changed to a different channel which had shorter items I could see till I was past the long one ( I hope this makes sense). I also noticed that at the HOME screen CPU useage was at 25% ( I have a quad core phenom ). Entering the EPG it increases to 55%, horz scrolling past the first screen would increase to 335%, back to start of the guide 55% etc. Then it crashed . Each time I was looking at the EPG in timeline view

Could that the cause of the increase in CPU usage also?

Ok new crash log and debug.

Set video driver to xorg version then rebooted.

Started XBMC, enabled debugging, went to tv -> EPG and XBMC closed back to the desktop.

Restarted XBMC, turned off external LCD, went back to the EPG and found the cpu usaged on the EPG sat around 60% instead of 335 like in the previous logs.
