If you connected HD5430 HDMI output to HDMI 2 input on the back of S9400, you want to make sure that HDMI 2 is assigned in S9400. The instruction can be found in your Onkyo manual page #41 under Advanced Setup.....

Let say you want use GAME button on your Onkyo remote for your HTPC, you can assign GAME to HDMI 2......when you press GAME on Onkyo remote, it'll switch to the right HDMI from HD5430.....

Yes I understand now and yes all my HDMI ports are correctly assigned.

I once had a Boxee Box attached to the HDMI that the HTPC is attached to about 2 weeks ago. Haven't made any changes and that Boxee ran perfectly. I swapped for the HTPC cuz the Boxee started to lag from my media collection.

It is not your Onkyo that is causing problem. If you connect any other media player, blu-ray player, etc. to it, it'll decode HD audio codec find. As I said, it is AMD HD5xxx that is having issue with EDID. You can visit the site I posted earlier to find solution......

You're luckier than some Intel owners with EDID issues. Intel don't provide EDID override option. They have to use more expensive EDID adapter to make it work.....

How exactly do I do this then? I go to that page and I'm either not seeing what I need to do or I just don't understand in that case.

Ok I have installed the Monitor Asset Manager and I guess I'm needing to create an .inf file? Save .inf, create .inf or merge extension bloc with INF? Should I save the report and share it here or somewhere else? Maybe someone can be a pal and configure this for me? LOL

I know it can get very frustrate when thing don't work right. Since you are trying to setup HDMI for bitstreaming, you can remove optical cable. I tried the EDID override a few years ago myself, but it never work consistantly. I end up replacing the HD5xxx and AVR, and later on the entire HTPC.

This guy have a great write up for for bitstreaming using HDMI, and he mentioned EDID in step #4- Guide: Setting Up Bitstreaming With Your Windows 7 HTPC – PART I

Now I'm not familiar with this stuff as I've never had to do EDID overrrides myself, but from that I think your AVR is reporting formats correctly apart from TrueHD being missing I think.

Looks to me that you will indeed need a EDID override, try posting for help over on the AVSForum thread.
