Linux xtreamer ultra 2, stutter every few minutes

There is a reason why "sync playback to display" was implemented. Why do you think you can achieve perfect results without this setting?

Sure I'll try that as well.
What I was thinking was that if "Adjust display refresh to match video" is enabled the frame rate is already matched and there is no need to speed up or slow down the playback. using "sync playback to display"
There is no such "feature" on my previous media player and there are no playback issues on that.
Thats what I was thinking, I might be unaware of what exactly it is this option does I guess.

But I'll enable it and try that as well, that will also be the last thing I try before this hardware goes back to the store.

Thanks for tip!

Choose: Method Videoclock, Drop/Dupe Audio
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Well, none of all this tinkering has made any real difference.

The hope of improvement yesterday was just my tired eyes not noticing the stutter at the late hours.
"Sync playback to display" made no difference, netiher did the added modes in xorg.conf.

This piece of crap is going back to the store tomorrow.
I have neither the time nor patience to play doctor with this software/hardware configuration.

Thanks for the help guys, case closed.

I think you are kidding us ... you are using Lanzos 3 for upscaling and wonder why it stutters ... remove your advancedsettings.xml completely.

Option "VertRefresh" "DFP-0: 23-60"

Whats the difference with DFP-0: 23-60 and DFP-1: 23-60 ? And how do i know what to pick for my setup?

@Jönke:

That is a good question. Here is the answer: nvidia labels their display internally starting with DFP-0 for DVI/HDMI 0 and DFP-1 for the next one an so on. You can see which on is used for you, when looking into Xorg.0.log. For my setup there is something like:

Quote:[ 4.383] (--) NVIDIA(0): MARANTZ JAPAN, INC. marantz-AVR (DFP-1) (connected)

Some more testing done

When i run xbmc-xrandr without custom xorg.conf i get
<mode id="0x1ea" name="1920x1080" w="1920" h="1080" hz="23.97091" current="false" preferred="false"/>

and with custom xorg: ModeLine "1920x1080_23.976" 74.175 1920 2558 2602 2750 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync
i get <mode id="0x1e6" name="1920x1080" w="1920" h="1080" hz="23.97576" current="false" preferred="false"/>

and with custom xorg "1920x1080_23.976" 74.230 1920 2560 2604 2752 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync
i get: <mode id="0x1e6" name="1920x1080" w="1920" h="1080" hz="23.97610" current="true" preferred="false

Next is to try ModeLine "1920x1080_23.976" 74.176 1920 2558 2602 2750 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync
that i have heard can give me 23,97608

That one was totally fine - and enough.

No, I used "Lanzos 3 Optimized" and it hardly affected the cpu/gpu usage..
Neither did disabling it help in any way, nor removing my advancedsettings.xml.
I'm not that stupid I did try every combination. Wink

Actually what did help was a post with this mode line: ModeLine "1920x1080_23.976" 74.230 1920 2560 2604 2752 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync
I still get the same amount of framedrops, but the stutter is almost completly gone.

Wondering if there is a way to get the modeline from my TV somehow so I can set it exactly how it wants the frequency in the xorg.conf?
Something like getting the edid from the TV including the required modeline.

Anyway, I couldn't return the xtreamer to the store (once you open the box they won't take it back) so I'm still playing around with it.

Oki, Lanzos 3 optimized should be fine. To get the modeline exactly, there is a debug entry on openelec wiki to set XORG into debug mode.
