I had a laptop running Kodibuntu (Intel), so I tried streaming on it and that one had hardware accelerated decoding after adding the i386 libs. Differences were kernel (my NUC is running 4.0) and wsnipex ppa for the vaapi drivers. Replacing the kernel seemed like a lot of work, so I tried removing the PPA and presto.
The difference between hardware and software decoding is huge. Software decoding is like watching a bad DivX rip at certain points. Thanks!
