XBMCbuntu doesnt load up properly
#1
Hi all,

Just installed xbmcbuntu on my old AMD system but when it boots it just loops between the "Frodo splash screen" and the blue Ubuntu background. Then it kicks me into the login screen where I select XBMC and it happens all over again.

Crash log

Any ideas?

Cheers

This is what happens when I try and launch from the xbmcbuntu desktop

log

I installed via a USB I created with LiLi USB creator. The instructions were from the XBMC Wiki.

This is the system I am trying to install on.

Media Server - Unraid v6, Intel G550, 4GB, 6TB

Your graphics hardware has probably been abandoned by AMD. Tough luck.

You can (in order of preference)

Install an nvidia card if you have a PCIe slot (maybe not on that slimline thing, hard to say without specs)

Install from xbmcbuntu frodo-beta2 iso and update xbmc to frodo (beta2 was based on ubuntu 12.04 which has drivers for abandoned AMD grpaphics chipsets, after that xbmcbuntu is based on ubuntu 12.10 which has the newer driver.

Install from ubuntu 12.04 minimal (or any version actually, but you don't need all the extra crud) and install frodo.
