Linux Boot splash logo issue with XBMC + Ubuntu server
#1
Hi all
I'm writing you because I have only one open issue left on my HTPC system running ubuntu server + XBMC
The HTPC is nVidia based, I'm running drivers rev 310.
I've followed the istruction on http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...oot_Splash but when enabling the boot logo (yes I did the handoff modification of 10_linux) I have conflicts with the nvidia driver when uxlaunch tries to load XBMC
This is my dmesg output

Quote:[ 24.876647] NVRM: The NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device(s).
[ 24.876660] NVRM: This can occur when a driver such as nouveau, rivafb,

[ 40.198188] init: uxlaunch main process (661) killed by KILL signal

I think that something more shall be done around the grub init.d scripts or the uxlaunch one, to do a proper handover of the nvidia framebuffer, or maybe use a different framebuffer at all in grub?
Thanks in advance for the help
Bye

Just disable all framebuffers when you use nvidia - so sorry for the highres splash :-)
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Well
It's not what I want. I know that disabling everything it works, actually it is what I did, but I'd like to find a solution.
Then if the solution doesn't exist, it is another matter Smile
If I recall correctly, there are two X launcher/method that you can select when installing uxlaunch. Maybe the other one is better?
