Hello Forum,

I have just built a HTPC with xbmcbuntu amd and I wanted to stream and download, to and from my movie library that is on a external hard drive connected to a windows 7 machine. I have not been able to find any guides on this. I would be very appreciative if some of the fellow members here could point me to a reliable link that would help me with this.

Thanks for sharing the links. I was wondering if this procedure would be as easy as turning on upnp in xbmc and locating the drive or would I need to install and configure samba.

I only want the htpc to be a client. The external drive is needed by other window computers on my network. I am new to Linux networking so I appoligize for all the questions.

Xbmc has smb and nfs networking built in.
