On my Mac mini, running 10.7 and connected to an RME Fireface 800 device all sound output (Music, Video) appears only on the first channel.

This appears on all nightlies I've tried (last one tried: xbmc-20130331-4b1d055-master-x86_64) after 12.1 (which is not launching at all).

I'm running a 2.0 configuration and have checked all settings in xbmc and Audio/Midi Setup.

GUI sounds, however, appear on both channels!

What puzzles me also is that xbmc is saying it is using 44100 Hz sampling rate although the device operates at 96000 Hz. Does xbmc downsample everything to 44100 Hz? (I read that there is no 'audiophile' support but is it really that bad?)

known issue with channel mapping - still unsolved. Try setting your speakerlayout to 2.1 in xbmc.

Why is this issue not getting any attention?

For me it is "only" MP3 files which is played in one channel only. I have a Mac Mini (10.8.3) connected to a Denon Amp using an HDMI cable, and when I play movies all 5.1 channels are playing fine. However, when I play an MP3 file I only get sound in the left front speaker.

My System/Audio Output is set as follows:
- Audio Output -> HDMI
- Speaker Configuration -> 5.1
- Audio Output Device -> HDMI

When I revert to 12.0 it works fine, but not 12.2...

I have the same problem also. It affects mp3s, FLACs and most movies with stereo sound as far as I can tell. However quality movies with 5.1 and more fancy sound settings works fine. Settings for 2.0, 2.1 or whatever does not change the outcome.

Really annoying and I agree with KillerBob - this is a basic function, it makes XBMC kind of useless in many situations.

1. Set speaker config to 2.0 or 2.1 in XBMC.
2. Set speaker config to 2.0 in osx audio-midi-setup
3. Activate AC3 and DTS options in XBMC
4. Disable LPCM otption in XBMC

This should get the most users going. For the others - i am sorry for now - but nobody is on this atm. There are only a couple of devs able to develop for osx, and only a part of them is able to dig into audio (i am talking of 1 - 2 devs here only). And all of them have a 36h real life a day...

So stop whining - or just use something else if it makes you angry ...

This is something which was working just fine in 12.0, and then you go and spoil it all in what is a so-called "Stable Release". It obviously is not. There are plenty of people with this issue and it would suit you to at least acknowledge it will be fixed, it just isn't at the moment.

I know this is Freeware, but you do get along on sponsorship, so please stop being condescending towards your customers!

Got the same problem here. Mac mini with Pioneer VSX921 hooked up via HDMI.
It also affects my radio stream. So any (permanent) solution will be more then welcome!

Ned, I think you are taking the term "customer" without really thinking it through. You guys, the XBMC Team, put out a product. Users that use your product can be legally considered to be your customers. In fact, everyone not part of your team is either a potential customer (not using your product) or a full customer (using the product). Money does not necessarily have to change hands. After all, if you guys were not publishing XBMC for the general public, you would not need an open forum, or even an open Web site. In fact, the XBMC Team is actually providing a service by offering their efforts to the general public. Obviously, this forum and others were created to allow your target audience (aka customer) to provide feedback. Sure looks like a Complaint Department to me, and you have the role of Customer Service. Assuming that you guys want the best product possible, the last thing any of you want to do is annoy/upset someone who was trying to provide the feedback that you have blatantly requested.

With all that said, if I get a ban for this, so be it. I could say more on that, but there's no need in this instance.
