[i.MX6] XBMC running on Freescale SoC's
Can the limited memory bandwidth and slower GC matter XBMC experience?
They emphasize excellent xbmc on cheapest product as well

@pszab I don't know the actuall status, but wolfgar posted on his blog once this statement. Maybe it will work now as there was really big improvement since that, but if you wait he will surely explain all this in his comparsion, as he announced before.

I have just push a big commit that is my current WIP state.
I will revert and push proper individual commits but it is available if you want to test that one...

Good night

Hi Stephan, thanks for letting me test :-) I pulled your git 8cd6026fc1 and made quick tests. On SD I didn't found any issue, but my HD video got black screens with signal loss, finaly xbmc terminated. I reinstalled it with the previous git 58105b4eec and everything is working fine again. In debug log I didn't found anythig usable. Unfortunatelly I didn't preserve the log, but I can reproduce it.

Hi piotrasd,

Thanks a lot : Would you allow me to host these videos and post them on my blog ?
Of course I will mention you are the author...

Yet I don't understand perfectly your question : I don't have a fork XBMC for matrix.
In fact matrix use my xbmc source code (and they update quite frequently : I guess they only miss the commits I have pushed today)

Best regards
Stephan

Good news, Geexbox isn't much user friendly (enabling TVH by editing file is no go).
It seems you caught them in the process of adding support for Cubox-i, no project files yet so there's nothing to build.
Hope they will add those soon, due to lack of free time my Cubox-i2 still waits in the box, OpenELEC support will be a good reason to take a break from study.

Shame that the different board design companies don't push to mainline Linux.
I'm not sure about the graphic binary blobs, maybe that's why.
It would be much nicer if with SPL, one uBoot and one kernel will support all the different iMX6 boards thus with one image OpenELEC could support all the different devices (but hey, my knowledge is still limited in this area).

@wolfgar Thank you for your latest commit c017d624fe from yesterday, This looks now really good. So far I didn't saw any fragmetation on interlaced SD at all, and my HD TS stream works also fine. I'll check whenever I see any sound sync issues as I got until now.
Great work, I like it!!!

Hi mijanek,

Thanks, livetv is making progress yes Wink

There is still a little artifact in the middle of the screen while deinterlacing I fear, Can you see it on your build ?
(And the double rate has an annoying oscillation but you cannot see this one as you don't use the option which enables vdi double rate)

But I will address these little remaining issues ...

Stéphan on the cubix-i yes there is an awful spot in the middle of SD 480i broadcasts here with occasional bigger greenish blotches. 1080i seem to be ok. 720p is also fine

I still find HD mpeg2 broadcasts largely unviewable especially high speed hockey. I do have to use c017d624fe since I watch more than 50% h264 mpeg2 that silently crash on cubox too.

Both pass through and PCM AC3 5:1 is working but I do found a noticeable lip sync issue.

Hi Martin,

The square is not so awful ;-)
Anyone is welcome to help to track this bug.
Here is additional context :
The commit which improves a lot the behavior is this one (before there were many lines in the middle and at the bottom of the screen)
https://github.com/wolfgar/utilite/commi...3e0626aa37
(it is for utilite but should be similar for cuboxi)

You can also have a look at this thread which seems to allude the same bug : https://community.freescale.com/thread/315369

"I do have to use c017d624fe since I watch more than 50% h264 mpeg2 that silently crash on cubox too."
Do you mean it is is solved or there are still many crashes ?
Could you send me a faulty stream that I can test ?

Regards
Stephan

I've been reading ipu_device.c all night to see if I can help. GeexBox have already included ENGR00292585 and I'm ruuning current imx-wip too so we must be close baseline wise.

No more crashes with h264 after you reverted, but m2v is jerky even at 720p What sort of broadcast stream do you want?
