Using composite video and HDMI sound
#1
Can I use composite Video and HDMI audio at the same time?

I want to connect the PI to an old projector without HDMI and an old AVR that cant convert Analog to Digital.

So I need comp Video to the projector and HDMI sound to the AVR.

Right now Im using openelec but I could switch to any other distro if needed.

Not possible. The composite and hdmi hardware share some common logic (e.g. clocks) and so can't be run together.
HDMI audio is interleaved with video data, so requires the whole hdmi pipeline to be running.

Surely your amp has analogue stereo input?
