I posted a bug on the bugtracker about this before. When 12.1 was released, it broke external audio. XBMC refuses to release it when it is in WASAPI mode. If there's a sound playing, such as gui sounds, or music, the last few miliseconds just loops until the external player is closed and control is returned to xbmc at which point it would stop. With the directsound, it loops for a few seconds and then is released. I posted the bug, there were changes made, but no one ever tested them and my bug was marked as fixed. I pointed out that it was not fixed once I tested the latest nightly, and they asked me to post another log, which I did, but it was ignored since it was already closed.
Thus, I went back to 12.0. The problem is present in gotham as well. I just downloaded the latest Frodo test build and the problem is worse. The sound stays stuck even after closing the external and xbmc crashes with wasapi. With directsound, it released control after a few seconds. Do you want me to open a new bugfix request and reference the old one?

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/14211 reopened. If it has actually gotten worse in pre12.2 then it might be useful to also post a debug from that (note the date of the pre12.2 build, too).

That would be awesome, thank you very much.

Straight from git via zip
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/archive/Frodo.zip because thats the way git provides it or by changing .zip to .tar.gz (didnt know that works

Any chance to have git version or zip for xbmc pre12.2 on Linux? I am running Debian distro and I always build my self all xbmc versions.

Incomplete bug reports will be ignored. We don't know what to look for in your log because you didn't say what went wrong, you didn't say if this was an issue for v12.1, and we don't know the steps to recreate it.
