#1
I have a heap of HD MKV files that where ripped as WMV and then later when i changed from Windows Media Player to XBMC i converted them to MKV this was years ago and they have been working in xbmc fine until i updated to XBMC 12 i have tried changing the audio setting i have XBMC on Linux windows and MAC OSX and have this problem accross all

i can play the files in WIndows media player and VLC player and older version of XBMC and they work fine but when played in XBMC 12 there is really bad stuttering

in XBMC 12 i can play other MKV files fine

i have the lastest version XBMC with audio set to analog i have tried everything i know and cannot find a fix

debug log (wiki)
mediainfo on the files.
some reporting of your hardware and playback settings.

Or perhaps we are supposed to guess all that?

Try with Speaker Configuration set to 2.0 then if no change we'll need the debug log previously requested.

Looking at the log there looks to be a problem with the video stream.

Can you post what you have in:

System -> System -> Video output

System -> Video -> Playback

I suspect this "CodecID : V_MS/VFW/FOURCC / WVC1 " is the problem, i personally haven't seen this before. Maybe the codec is just too obscure.

That's VC1 as used on Blu-Rays

1st try enabling "Adjust display refresh rate to match video"

2nd try disabling "Allow hardware acceleration (DXVA2)"

Not sure then, something is causing a mass of errors when attempting playback as the log contains loads of messages starting:

CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuity1

Normally I would suspect a bad rip but you say these files worked previously on a older version of XBMC (which version btw?)

It could be that the version of ffmpeg in Frodo just does not like those files, so only further thing I can suggest at the current time is to try one of the nightly builds from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/ as the ffmpeg version in use was recently bumped to the latest available stable release.

As the nightlies are unstable development builds I'd suggest trying it with the target is "xbmc.exe -p" for the shortcut where the -p is for running in portable mode.
