I don't know much, but I am trying to learn. Should I use a VPN while using XBMC? I have purchased a service, but I am not sure I should run it with XBMC. Also, can XBMC be configured to connect to a VPN on its own separate from other Internet activities?
Thanks.

I have no idea why you would want to use a VPN with XBMC.
Ofcourse it is possible use a VPN connection with XBMC, but I am not sure what you would like to accomplish.
It is not possible to configure a VPN from within XBMC, this needs to be done form the underlying OS.
Could you explain how you want to use XBMC and why you think a VPN fits in that picture ?

VPN configuration would only be used to talk from one site to another over a WAN no point on a LAN in this environment, The only reason I would think of using a VPN would be to access xbmc library remotely and securely. Main issue with most streaming video remotely is bandwidth intensive and general household users only get 1mb upload speeds.
