when i play any videos or music through xbmc its really really quite the system was set up to use windows media center and works fine with that. is there a setting ive missed in xbmc somewhere thats limiting audio levels?

press the plus button on the keyboard to increase the volume ?

If that does not help, post a debug log (wiki) and double check your audio settings (see stick thread in Windows support subforum)
