XBMC on Pi: Add TV/monitor Power Save support when idle?
Ok, done but there is no difference, still cannot get the display to wake up.

Strange. Also the log file doesn't show any error and it is working on my RPi with Kodi 17 Alpha.

Okay I've changed some things. Would you try it again?

Please make sure you've uninstalled all previous versions and please check if no more kodi.screensaver.pimon directory exists in ~/.kodi/addons. After this please restart kodi once and install this zip:

Iswitch monitor on/of with a script. It works perfektly, but after a wile i get a error message. It is possible to build a script with your code, to power on the hdmi port with a keypress, without the error message?

Maybe you could trigger the screensaver with your power button. Smile

First of all:

Second (only to be really sure this is not the problem): You could only start the screensaver with the power button. To stop the screensaver (and power on HDMI) you have to press any other key.

Third: Please provide your kodi.log file. (see http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Advanced#Log_files) Please remove sensitive data like passwords, etc.

Tested this on a Pi 2 as well as Pi 3 running Kodi 16.1 (via LibreELEC 7.0.2 stable) and it works a treat.

This is a nice upgrade from the old "HDMI Off" version that forced a Kodi restart on wakeup. As a side-effect, it also solves an issue on said older version that caused LibreELEC to not bind to HDMI if the TV was powered off on wakeup. Family is most pleased.

Thank you!!

Thnx for pimon screen saver
It has problem with xbian as xbian has no audio visualization
And when you play music , it goes to screen saver and boom ... HDMI off ... No audio
It needs to be disabled when media player is active or paused.

Also is it possible to add some delay after screen saver activated ?

Hi, I've successfully installed the screensaver script and it works like a charm. I guess if some one could help me with a little further step. I would like to wake KODI using a proximity sensor or a PIR, in order to have the screen powered on when some one is in front of it (KODI is installed in a kind of a "totem"). I've found a lot of tutorials on how to connect such sensors to the PI, but I don't know how to "merge" it with the screensaver script.

Would it be possible to have this screensaver ignore any actions when a library scan is triggered by remote systems?

Currently I have external systems that trigger library updates when new content is available but this can happen in the middle of the night and thus turns on my TV screen which lights up the bedroom.

Have you enabled "Hide progress of library updates" (Settings > Media > Library > Video Library / Music Library)>

Alternatively, the external systems that are triggering library updates should support the ability to perform a "silent" update (this is an option on the JSON request which I presume they are making).
