Does xbmc use override redirect when in full screen mode? If yes, is there a user setting or compile option to disable?

XBMC mainline uses SDL which makes use of this flag. You can't change this inside SDL. This version: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996 uses a different method if XBMC is launched from a window manager.

Thanks. I am launching XBMC as an app, not as standalone. Thus XBMC runs inside a window manager. What method is used?

I want to be able to see certain popup dialogs. Yhat used to work back with 9.01 but no longer.

The version I mentioned sets NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN.
