Question
Dear XBMC Community,

Lately I have been trying to get some of my favorite news shows to stream through XBMC. Thankfully one of the news channels I watch (MSNBC) has all of their main television shows available as video podcasts, including the most important ones to me NBC Nightly News and The Rachel Maddow Show. If you go to this link here -> http://www.nbcnews.com/id/8132577/#.UYjVnrXryDg you can see 3 links for each show, a link for playing the video podcast in iTunes, Zune, and "Other" in the form of an RSS XML.

Clearly I don't want nor do I believe I can use either the iTunes or Zune links however the XML does look promising. For instance here is the xml link for NBC Nightly News RSS Video Podcast http://podcastfeeds.nbcnews.com/audio/po...ST-M4V.xml.

Here comes the part where I would appreciate some help from the XBMC community. I have Goggled and searched these forums quite extensively as well as read the page on RSS feeds in the XBMC wiki. Although I have found much information for adding RSS News ticker feeds, among other similar RSS related information, I have been unsuccessful in finding any information for adding an RSS XML for use in XBMC.

Thank you all very much for your time reading my request, and thank you for any assistance you can provide in helping me to solve my problem.

Sincerely,

-Stangmar

P.S. If anyone here has any working streaming xml data for the TV Channels CNN and/or MSNBC that work with the LiveStreams add-on or a similar add-on and would be willing to share that data with me, that would be really fantastic. Thank you all again so very much for your time and assistance.

Bumping in hopes someone here will take the time to help me. I really need some assistance with this, and I would very much appreciate any that can be provided.

Thank You all so much,

-Stangmar

P.S. I did not add it in my first post, but I am running XBMC v12.1 on Windows 7 64 Pro using the Xperience1080 skin. I also would be happy to change to any XBMC version and or skin if it will help me solve this issue. Installing addons is not a problem either. Any solutions are welcome! Thanks again so much everyone.

Bumping one last time before I let this thread slowly die and let it make its way to forum post heaven. I hope someone can help me with my problem and save this thread before its too late. Oh the horror and sadness that must take over a thread lost back in the 800 page range....

Again, any assistance is appreciated.

-Stangmar

P.S. In case you were wondering, yes I am so desperate for help that I am willing to try and guilt someone into helping through their fear that if they don't help their inaction could mean loosing this newly anthropomorphized threads soul to the pits of "forum hell".

Videos -> Files -> Add source

for a URL like this: http://podcastfeeds.nbcnews.com/audio/po...ST-M4V.xml

Type it in to the box (don't bother with browse. Just select <none> and it will let you type something in raw) as this

rss://podcastfeeds.nbcnews.com/audio/podcast/MSNBC-NN-NETCAST-M4V.xml

(so basically just change "http://" to "rss://")

It will automatically title the source, save it, and you should be good to go.

Alternatively, you can use the Apple iTunes Podcasts add-on in the XBMC.org repo (see Add-on manager (wiki)) and select it from there, even without having an Apple account or using iTunes. They just pull it from Apple's site in a way that XBMC can use it.
