Linux Do I need Frodo for Live TV?
#1
Hi,

I only have "Eden" and have compiled Tvheadend to pick up local Muxes, but can "Eden" play live TV if so how?

If I need "Frodo" is there any 32bit rpms in existence?
(I have Fedora 17)

Thanks

I believe (my memory fails...) that the live TV bits only became mainstream with Frodo; yes, you could get it in Eden, but you needed a special build (Dushmaniac had some, as did Pulse8 - both for Ubuntu/Debian, though). You may be able to find something if you hunt around, although you might have to compile your own...

... or switch to Frodo!

OK, I will try to compile it for fc17.

Is there likely to be any 32 rpms for fedora18 or is this S/W primarily for Ubuntu/Debian and its just hit and miss for other OS's?

This software is for many OS's (see http://xbmc.org/download/), but for linux it depends if there is someone building it for <insert distribution name here>.

Because XBMCbuntu is based on Ubuntu there are official buildbots that build the most recent version, and they are regularly uploaded to PPA's to distribute them.
It might seem that XBMC is developed for ubuntu, this is not the case at all but a lot of users do use Ubuntu.

It seems that 12-RC1 is the latest available build for x86 in Fedora 18 when using RPM Fusion, as explained on the XBMC download page.
