Win TVHeadend - left side menu in live tv crash

When I go to live TV, arrow left to bring up the side menu, then arrow down to radio channels, XBMC locks up and crashes. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I have no radio channels, owing to the fact that my usb tuner doesn't do radio.

Using latest stable Frodo (downloaded last night).

Server Setup:
local Ubuntu 12.05 64 bit server.
Intel core i3 processor
KWorld USB hybrid tuner (with no radio support)

Client
This happens on any local XBMC clients.
I've used a windows 7 laptop, windows 7 HTPC with core i7 64 bit processosor. Also happens on my Android phone (samsung galaxy sIII)

Honestly in my case it would be nice to be able to disble the 'radio' portion of XBMC Live TV all together. Alas i didn't see this as an available setting in both XBMC as well as TVHeadend

I don't get a crashlog file. Everything freezes up and then I get a windows message pop up that says XBMC has stopped working.

The request is to switch debugging on, perform the actions that lead to a crash and then upload the entire XBMC log somewhere where it can be picked over.

OK Prof, I went and recreated the issue again. The results are below.

This time I'm not sure it had anything to do with the radio button, it didn't seem to lock up this time until I went to the EPG. So it may have nothing to do with the fact that I have no radio stations and everything to do with the fact that I haven't successfully set up an EPG yet. I have about 6 OTA ATSC stations. Any hints on how to get a free EPG? Windows seems to automatically do it for me with no fuss, but being rather new to TVHeadend, I don't really know how to make it work.

Hi,

which Skin do you use ? I don't think that it's a tvheadend issue, it's skin related. I have/had the same error with buggy or unfinished skins (PVR is a "new" feature that's hard to skin) - last seen with nbox and titan - the error doesn't here appear in common skins ..

Perhaps someone can help me figure out why the initial scan does seem to work and I am presented with many services, but I can't seem to be able to map those services to channels? The handy button that says 'Map DVB Services to Channels' doesn't do anything.

Are all muxes scanned (i.e. are any left in need of scanning)?

Is the adapter enabled?

What happens if you restart the tvheadend process?

Some screenshots of your adapter config might help - I can take a look to see if anything obvious is awry.

All muxes are scanned, adapter is enabled. I can manually map services to channels and watch them, but the auto map feature does nothing. And I can't seem to get any EPG.

Hmmm, nothing immediately obvious, bar the weirdness of your service list. I can see that you've also posted over on the tvheadend forum, so let's see if you get anything out of that.

The only immediate difference with my setup is that I don't have "Skip service availability check" and "Monitor signal quality" enabled. I can't see why these would cause your problem, and, anyway, I'd presume you've only switched them on to try to get things to map in the first place.

How have you installed tvh? I can see that it's version 3.4~pre... something-or-other. It might be worth trying a different version if that's a self-build.

(As for OTA EPG, you probably need to have access to the specific channel that carries the information... if that's not detected, or detected and not mapped, then the tuner can't lock to this during idle time to go and get the EPG data).

looks like a bug in CGUIEPGGridContainer. whatever version of tvheadend you use, it should not be able to crash xbmc.
and asking you to run things in gdb and provide a backtrace will be hard on windows ;-) any dev who can repro this? or someone who can create a trace for me from a .dmp file on windows please.

I'm somewhat technical, so maybe you could walk me through what to do to help out? I'm a software developer, but on the AS400 mainly. I could also install an XBMC frontend on my ubuntu or mac boxes if that makes things easier.

Correct. My guess is that you need to have the EPG channel(s) detected and mapped before you can receive the data, unless you use an XML source instead.
