Linux VAAPI: Nuc, Chromebox, HSW, IVB, Baytrail with Ubuntu 14.04
I've found that vaapi render produce some weird artifacts in the bottom of the screen

VAAPI Render ON
Image

VAAPI Render OFF

It's very obvious especially when there is a motion in the screen.

@sat4-all: Thanks much - cropping is still missing, yeah - good that you saw it.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
@fitsch that is wat i mean a few pages back some blurred line on bottom.
@devilstrike: Oki - sorry for not responding to this issue. I was quite busy this week and did not test full 1080 content (most likely) - after reading the code it was clear.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
No problem Smile and yes seems only on 1080p content.
I know it is not related here, but maybe you know, are baytrail and Braswell fine on Windows? I can't even try as atm I don't even have win installed, just few of my friends asked.
Here is a new version that has the cropping fixed: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...a88316.tar

@devilstrike, sat4all can you verify?

@gurabli, yes is fine under windows but you need some older drivers to get dolby digital plus truehd and dts-hd to work under windows with baytrail.

@fritsch, cropping is fixed no blurred lines in bottom with 1080p, again thanks.

@fritsch, cropping fixed. Thanks alot!

Hi all -
I'd like to pitch in and help with my Gigabyte BRIX Baytrail but I can't find where to choose Lanczos3? Is it supposed to be under "Video scaling method" under "Video settings" during playback? I'm using the latest build that fritsch posted here.
Thanks!

Never mind. I was trying to find it on 1080i material. I saw it on 480i material. I'm guessing because there is no need to scale 1080 to 1080 and I can't do math, despite what my high school and college grades may say.
Dear Experts,

now I´m also an owner of a ASROCK N3700.
On my system is now

Kerner: 4.1.0-040100rc7-generic
xserver-xorg-video-Intel: 2:2.99.917+git1506251933
xserver-xorg-core: 2:1.17.1-2
libgl1-mesa-dri:amd64: 10.7~git1506270730.556dd
i965-va-driver:amd64: 1.5.1-2

For me it is not possible to get a Signal out of the HDMI port.

In the System log I can find following Messages:

Has anybody of you an idea, why the HDMI port is not working?

Thank you very much in advance!

Manfred
Kernel log does no harm. Rest of your SW does not fit the howto.

Use the provided oe image that you upgrade from the beta.

BSW needs kernel 4.1! Or you don't get hwaccel and direkt rendering. Your vaapi is fully outdated.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
On a second look, file a bug with bugs.freedesktop.org but try OE beta 2 before. There I exactly know what is in there.

I am currently travelling and have no acces to anything.

For those, that already run a Braswell "in the wild", make sure to install latest drm-intel-nightly kernels and file every bug you find with bugs.freedesktop.org. If you don't run a braswell this step is _not_ required and _not_ suggested:

Code:
mkdir drm-nightly
cd drm-nightly
wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/current/linux-headers-4.1.0-994_4.1.0-994.201506270305_all.deb

sudo dpkg -i *4.1.0-994*deb
