Linux VAAPI: Nuc, Chromebox, HSW, IVB, Baytrail with Ubuntu 14.04
should be fixed in my master now
Saucy package seems a bit busted today? Got this error when I apt-get upgraded from wsnipex/xbmc-fernetmenta-master

Edit: Okay that's now sorted, but I've had a problem the last few versions where the refresh rate is not switching from 60hz to 50hz when watching TV. The screen stops for a second like a refresh rate change is going to happen, but always stays on 60hz. This happens again if I exit out of fullscreen and then go back into it, with the screen pausing for a second as if about to change refresh rate and then sticking with 60hz. See below for log

Hi ,

i also upgraded to trusty and have to say that system really works good :-) Thank you very much for all your work and effort.

I have one question. After switching on the system I have sometimes a start menu (think this comes from grub). I can then decide between two options and have to confirm Ubuntu. Then the OS is starting. It's not really a problem but you have to confirm with a keyboard (IR does not work at that state). Is it possible to confirm that automatically or switch off.

Thank you very much

Best Regards,

Alex
add this to /etc/default/grub then run sudo update-grub
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true
GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT=0
I got massive artifacts in LiveTV with pctv 460/461e dvb-s2 tuners on my NUC(D34010)
On other Hardware, it's working fine.

If I don't use Live TV or record from Live TV will I get any benefit from using this in comparison to the standard XBMC packages available via the Ubuntu ppa?
H265 support, proper Input, multi monitor management.

Fritsch do you have a link to a folder with good testfiles that includes H265?

Nope, but here are the h265 testfiles: http://www.elecard.com/en/download/videos.html

My famous h264 1080p50 testfile: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...recode.mkv (Nice Song and quite hard to render - baytrail nucs cannot do it with swfilter turned on)
1080i50 Deinterlacing Testfile: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...g-test.mp4 (CPU Test, when deinterlacing with yadif)
576i Deinterlacing Testfile: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...formers.ts (Testing Lanczos 3 Optimized Upscaling in combination with deinterlacing)
720p hi10p 444 testfile: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...sample.mkv (quite nice on real celerons, which can do that at the maximum)
Clannad [email protected]high (without audio): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...lannad.mkv (ruling out audio misconfiguration)
Killa Sample (for those without balls): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...a.x264.mkv (showing that AMD can do >= Level [email protected]high out of historical reasons)

A lot audio testformats: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...ormats.mkv (Audio, Audio, Audio ...)
Famous AC3 Speaker-Test: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...20Test.avi (Does my ION-1 have the speaker mapping bug?)

Have fun.

Edit: Don't forget to set "Use HQ Scalers when scaling > 20%". This setting will make sure that 1080 is scaled by 4x4 convolution to 1080, which is insane anyways. With that setting 720p and lower will use lanczos3 to upscale. It makes absolutely no sense to set that setting to 0%.

Hi Guys,

I use a Asus Chromebox (the celeron version with Intel HD4000) with beta 6 openelec.

I use it with freesat, and bought it to playback HD 1080i channels.
Unfortunately i suffer from slight stuttering and frame drops of >1,5<2.0 frames per second. IF and only if I use
de-interlace mode: "De-Interlace" If I use mode "De-Interlace (half)" it is all good.
On SD channels I can use mode "de-Interlace" mode without frame drops.

Is this box not powerful enough or is VAAPI de-interlace a work in progress and is patience a virtue?

Thnx

hw specs - this is a celeron 2955U? or something slower?

It's got 2GB of RAM, 16GB of solid-state storage, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a 1.4 GHz dual-core Intel Celeron 2955U based on the Haswell architecture

I'll post logs, I was just curious if this would be a no go based on specs anyway which would make logs unnecessary, Ill gather some !
That processor is fast enough, we did some internal tests with a gigabyte brix 2955U, which managend 1080i50 LiveTV without any issue. Please make sure, that you don't force Lanczos3 Optimized for that 1080i resolution (see settings from the first post), your logfile will show that anyways.

Edit: I tested most of this code with a Celeron 1007U, which has dual 1.5 ghz but old IVB architecture, so your 2955U is certainly enough.
