I tried this using PowerISO in Windows and the file it creates is 33gb and not bootable. Anyway to do this using os x?
not sure what you did. the EFI folder is 2.18MB and the entire mini iso 32 MB

Tried it again using PowerISO and now it's 33mb again but it's just not bootable. I copied the EFI folder from the server ISO to clipboard, then copied it back to the mini ISO.

Saved it, then wrote using dd to my USB.. won't boot.

Why didn't they add EFI to the mini grr Confused
just use the server iso, then press F4(not 100% sure) and choose minimal install

Funnily enough that option does not appear when you choose UEFI boot! Only legacy boot

I think I have worked it out, choose UEFI (USB) boot. Then use grub to edit the boot for Ubuntu and change ubuntu-server.seed to ubuntu-server-minimal.seed. Then press F10 to boot. At least I hope.
Does not matter. Choose Install Ubuntu Server. Make sure to create an EFI partition yourself (512 MB is enough), then create an extended partition with / and swapfs. That's it.

On the selection later only choose "SSH Server". done. Just did that yesterday on a Baytrail.

Thanks this is what I ended up doing if anyone else is interested.

Booted using the ubuntu 14.04 server install via UEFI (USB)
At the command line, press c for grub command line.

Type in:

linux /install/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server-minimal.seed quiet --
initrd /install/initrd.gz
boot

Not sure what the difference between the seed files are, but hey presto it works.
OK Now I have XBMC setup again (it's been a while since I last updated). But the GUI is really choppy?
Logfiles from the first post ...

Is this a new joke done by tvheadend?

TVheadend addon is not enabled on this system only iptv.pvr.simple.
