Linux VAAPI: Nuc, Chromebox, HSW, IVB, Baytrail with Ubuntu 14.04
What makes sense:

GPU in full range (xrandr)
xbmc's Use Limited color range _not_ticked_
TV in full range

GPU in full range (xrandr)
xbmc's use limited color range + xmbc's Prefer VAAPI Render disabled + no use of MCDI, MADI, VAAPI-BOB, cause they enable it again
TV in limited range

If you AVR clamps full range (which is not very nice):
GPU in limited range (xrandr)
xbmc's Use Limited Range _not_ticked_ as that would do limiting twice then.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
