I have just put a load of movies and every episode of friends on, doing exactly as is done in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w0NLG5OycA and the movies work fine but when i try to play the episodes of friends some work and others play as if it is an audio file even though they are all .avi files, what do i do?

Debug log (wiki) would be the first port of call. Follow those steps while playing a problematic .avi.

Interesting, seems those videos use "msmpeg4", a Microsoft (non-standard) version of mpeg4. I didn't even know until now that Microsoft had their own version of mpeg4. I did a quick google search on it and the first result is actually one from the Raspberry Pi forums, where they too confirm that msmpeg4 only plays with audio. One of the devs might know more on why this is happening.

Thanks I put it through a video converter and now it works! now all i have to do it convert the other 232 episodes
