Milkdrop not displaying properly when set to maximum

Not sure why this all of a sudden started happening, did this on linux and is now doing it in openelec. As you can see from the picture the music visualization is not displaying correctly. I have a nvidia gtx 650 for my card and running openelec 3.0.5. any other logs or anything else you need just ask.

ok, i had an epiphany after i posted this. i changed the render mode from maximum to high and it fixed the problem. any idea why this happens when set to maximum?

interesting. not that it makes a difference, I am ok with high settings. however, if i can run at maximum that would be great. I have always been a stickler for quality above all else.
