Hello, I am looking to replace my Xtreamer Ultra 2 with something better and I would like some guidance from the experts.
I am not necessarily ruling out the option of a build, but that is something that I would examine if I can't find something suitable that is prebuilt.
My main criteria for this search would be :
Gigabit Lan ( all my mkv's are store on a Synology DiskStation DS413 )
Fluid playback on all my 1080p mkv's / bd iso's. I have a 3D TV but I am not so keen on watch 3D movies but I would like to have the option.

Bitstreaming audio
Direct boot into XMBC (can't live without it)
Illuminated remote control that works with the system (mobile phone XMBC option only used as backup)
Good cooling - low noise levels
Price is not such a factor as this will be my main entertainment hub in the living room. I only watch movies there, that is the sole purpose of this build. I don't view pictures, I don't use it for music, just movies.
Is there a barebones option you would propose that has that classy apple tv look. I am currently looking at the new Zotac lineup, but they seem ugly to me. The new Asrock series looks the part though.
