[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
I'm absolutely loving this updated version of the add-on. In my opinion, it is the most useful add-on/plugin for XBMC.

Quick question:

For streams of shows of length 25 min, does PseudoTV Live automatically transition to the next scheduled show after the 25 mins, even if the stream hasn't finished? I had a show listed at 25 min, but it was really 25 min and 10 seconds. Instead of progressing to the next scheduled show after 25 min, the stream repeated itself. I had to navigate off the channel and navigate back to it to play the next show.
Quote:Having artwork display now depends 100% on the xbmc player info ( scraped fanart, etc). So only playing media gets art.

My tvdb/tmdb mod is my first attempt to pass art information directly from PTVLs playlist to the overlay. If it doesn't have performance issues, it will open the door to enhanced overlays. Such as matching artwork when scrolling...

Matching artwork when scrolling is actually one of the last two things on my wish list for the EPG window. So obviously that'd be great if this feature is able to be implanted eventually.

However, in both skins, once PseudoTV Live shortcut has been added, nothing happens when clicked. In the case of ace it adds this shortcut - script.pseudotv.live. However the real location appears to be script.pseudotv.live-master. I assume the problem is the same in confluence. This is a really minor issue but personally I find it annoying. So what do I need to do to direct these skins to script.pseudotv.live-master rather than script.pseudotv.live if in fact that is the problem.

rename it!! exit xbmc go to your addon folder and rename script.pseudotv.live-master to script.pseudotv.live
But either way I'm not sure why you are having this problem, xbmcaddons negotiates ids so actual folder names shouldn't matter... Anyone else having this problem? I tested on my xbmc and it loads fine..

Hopeful this works for you... no other users have reported a similar problem...

Nothing can get fixed without logs....send me a description of the problem and a link to your log.

That depends on if duration information was found... If you recall from my PM to you... I was interested in making strm duration information more robust... but you never answered me back!

Didn't work Lunatixz. Thanks for the suggestion. I feel bad griping about such a little thing when this is perhaps the most awesome media software I have ever seen. Even the wife is excited about it and I have been looking for something like this for a couple of years - since cutting the cable. I will look around to see where I should post with xbmcaddon id problems. Maybe I should have removed the link from the main page before moving from stable to master.

I Believe the problem may be on your end... to help you narrow down the problem you should know that skin data is stored in guisettings.xml... which is stored in memory when xbmc is running so you can only manually edit it while xbmc is closed... open the xml and search for pseudotv to find the line of code your skin created for its shortcut.

For those experiencing a problem with PTVL from the main menu...

I can confirm that launching PTVL from the main menu works fine on Aeon Nox, Aeon MQ5, Ace, Confluence, and Xperience1080. I do it routinely, and it definitely works.

One thing I have come across is that when you change something in the settings menu (the location of your channel logos produced this problem for me repeatedly) you will not be able to then launch PTVL from the main menu.

However once you force quit (Alt F4) XBMC and then restart XBMC you can then launch PTVL from the main menu like always.

I have no idea what causes that bug, but it happens like clockwork anytime I change the location of my logos folder.

Weird... thanks for the detailed info... I'll see if I can find the problem...

i got filmon channels to work in ptvl so if anyone wants strms for any filmon channels pm me what channels you want and ill send you strm files.
also i think i have a idea on how to stop dead strms from crashing ptvl by adding a strm link of a youtube off air video after the strm link. only problem is xbmc does not like when you add a strm link + a plugin strm link.
you can add as many strm links as you want to a strm file and it works great but when you try to mix plugin strms in it fails.but if someone can find a strm that does not require a plugin and is online 100% of the time we could use that to fallback on when a strm is dead. any ideas? also does anyone know of a way to grab xmltv info for filmon?
Hi Luna...

I was really hoping the fix was as simple as you said, but the trouble persists. I confirmed my free account works from a browser window (permits LOW quality stream only).

I changed the USTVnow Quality setting to its lowest value (400kbps), verified my login credentials were correct, and tried the plugin by itself. No luck. Clicking on any "Live" channel gets the dreaded "Playback failed" message box.

To get a fresh log of PTVL doing its thing, I set PTVL settings to Autotune 1) LiveTV (USTVnow), and 2) InternetTV (...using Strm Collections), then launched PTVL.

The "building channels" info box came up OK, indicating 7 channels were generated. Then a brief "opening stream" box, almost immediately replaced by the "Playback failed" box.

Clicking "OK" cleared the screen, there was a flash of the PTVL program info overlay (not to be confused with the EPG) and then the closing PTVL box. At this point, the log was uploaded.

Here's the debug log, and settings2 file.

Maybe you can see something obvious from these dumps. Any ideas, hints or clues would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The problem is with autotune, not ustvnow... I'm looking into the problem...

Edit:: I broke the ordering for autotuning... I'm sure its an easy fix... But I don't have time right now... if you use autotune, things can get messy...

Hi Luna

Forgive me for not being clear enough... I cannot get the USTVnow plugin to work - even at 400kbps. Launched by itself, it refuses to play any channels.

I suspect in my case it's causing PTVL to crash - but I can't interpret the log, so I'm at the mercy of those who can.

Let me say Thank You again, for working so hard to create "the perfect cable box replacement" !! I cannot roll the xbmc computer out to the family till I get this wonderful interface working No

Cheers

I built a directory of streams using youtube channels. I took channels from my subscriptions and made a .strm file with one link in each file. PTVL seems to have read the directory and the channel shows up in the epg but will not play. Should this work or have I attempted something that will not work?

Why are you using the youtube strm files and not the youtube chtype channel?

Are you trying to make a custom channel using youtube strms?
