[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
@MovieJunky, There is no "wrath" to incur, lol

Just don't consider me a tier one tech support!
If you have a problem, I would assume you tried your hardest on your end to remedy the problem.
I have little patience for users who on their end do nothing, whiling expecting me to some how cure their problems...

Look how many users posts don't include logs, like i'm some kind of oracle!!
Or how many questions are asked, that have been answered already, or are included in my lengthy first three posts.

There has to be some level of trust that as a user you are knowledgeable in basic XBMC, Plugin, and Computer skills.
I understand noobs are plentiful (I was one once). It's up to you! to do your due diligence before using this program!

Would you rather I spend my free time answering how to install an xbmc plugin? or spend it developing new features??
Maybe then you can understand my frustration!!

Google is your friend, if you don't know something "Google it!"

This is an open forum, you are free to ask, and do whatever...

I would prefer users suggested features and discuss problems... But read the first three posts first!!

BTW this is in general and not speaking directly to you MovieJunky

In which directory should I place my XMLTV file or do I simply point PTV to it via
the gui "LiveTV -> XMLTV location" ?

Do I then just leave
Code:
<setting id="Channel_8_3" value="epg" />

My XML file is called epg.xml and I placed it in the same folder as the settings2.xml file is in.

Yeah, Setup the path to include the XMLTV file location, then make sure _3 switch is using the file name without .xml.

So in your case C:\epg.xml would be:
Path in settings: C:\
Switch _3: value="epg"

Any suggestions on how I could improve xmltv setup let me know...

BTW I am planning to add function to auto build LiveTV from XBMC's backend. It will feature channel manager setup, including hopefully xmltv selection. This will remove manual configurations, but... it won't be added till final build.

Thank you for that response. I get a blackscreen still.
With regards to the XMLTV setup I could write you a HOW-TO after I have figured out a way to do it.

I did everything you said and also reinstalled PTV Live just to be sure, deleting settings.xml and the cache folder as well.
Rebuilt all channels (it's just 1 anyway since reinstall) and set a directory for XML.
I didnt bother with SB/TVDB yet, to exclude those as potential error faults.

This is my settings2.xml

Code:
<settings>
    <setting id="LastExitTime" value="1386611174" />
    <setting id="LastResetTime" value="1386625007" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_type" value="8" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_1" value="www.timefor.tv/tv/162" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_2" value="pvr://channels/tv/All TV channels/7.pvr" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_3" value="epg" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_rulecount" value="1" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_changed" value="False" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_time" value="0" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_rule_1_id" value="1" />
    <setting id="Channel_1_rule_1_opt_1" value="Das Erste" />
</settings>

Never seen that error before, your not using a vaild XMLTV format...

"XMLTV" isn't just a name to describe a file with TV listings... it's a format that has to meet syntax requirements...

Check out: XmltvValidation

If your file passes then I will change my code to account for oddly formatted time stamps, but I believe this isn't a true "XMLTV" file...

Another idea just came up... Did you delete your cache and force rebuild after updating to v.2?

It's supposed to be 100% valid.
This is a testfeed and they say it is comform with the XMLtv standard.

http://timefor.tv/xmltv/c81e728d9d4c2f63...89cc14862c

EDIT: I think I know what the error is. The EPG.xml file is encoded in UTF-8 and didn't you say somewhere that
that is no good?

the UTF-8 problem hasn't been fully explored, I recommend not using it...

But the problem is with your timestamp...

Try: changing ptvl settings to 12h in visual. select force reset channels.

Let me know if that works... if not can you send me a link to your xmltv file...

This is my file and it was set to 12h under visual (from reinstalling), I did however change it to 24 thinking that maybe this was the cause, but didn't work.

Don't need your settings2.xml, I need you to run a test on your xmltv file... if and only if the file "passes" then send me that file. So I can see what is different.
Thanks

Also did you try force reset channels?

What test do you want me to run? I paid money for this XMLTV service, as Germany does not have free services. I can send you the file via private message.

Of course, many times Big Grin

I figured it out! The problem was that PTV didn't like that my settings2.xml just contained my Live-TV channel and nothing else.
When I reinstalled and included USTVNOW through Autotune and all the other stuff, it worked!

Thanks for your help!

For some reason though, channel 10 has no name.

I gave the channel a name through adv. rules.

A bug? When I hit 'i' to bring up the info for my LiveTV channel, remaining 00:01 just keeps blinking. Like it's unable to tell from the EPG maybe?

That's normal...happens with live tv streams.

It's no bug "LiveTV has no runtime, XBMC's player can only show what it has buffered... If you want info stick to PTVL's info overlay.
