RSS Feeds without a "media:thumbnail" atttribute?

I fixed this on my end by performing the following modification -

Starting at line 2823 in ChannelList.py. I don't have generate strms/nfos on, this may bomb out if you have that enabled, figured I'd post this tip.

Without this TWiT.tv feeds, and others, which do not have the media_thumbnail attribute will not load.

Thanks, but don't invest to much time on youtube or rss code, when i'm finished with my gui enhancements i'm planning on a complete rewrite..

Cool, sounds good. Definitely seemed like it was a work in progress, can't wait to see it reach full potential, let me know if you need help.

A lot of my code is a work in progress, I like to get it working (crude or not) and test it out... Then I will go back and clean code...

Well the behavior on mine and I assume on Daavid's, it doesn't 'blackscreen' perse. The channel just doesn't populate. If you have other content it loads ok, just the channel that has the 'live tv' doesn't load or show in the EPG. I assume it has to do with how the playlist parses the time/dates of the xmltv.

Same behavior here, though if I only had the channel in question in the settings2.xml - then it black screened.

So only 1 channel with bad xmltv data triggered black screen?? It should prompt "unable to populate channel"... gotta remember to look into this!!

BTW I hope everyone is getting their API keys, enhanced LiveTV is getting better and ARYEZ is optimizing his skins to take advantage of the enhancements.

Also genre coloring for local TV media...

That's the same exact problem I experienced yesterday (for the first time). It didn't show anything in the EPG but if I actually attempted to change to the channel, it would crash PTVLive. This is after switching back to mc2xml from zap2it. I'm going to run an xml with the -d parameter and see how I fare.

Btw, the m3u generated on the described channel was blank.

I think everyone is gonna be real happy with the new possibilities the API keys and dynamic artwork improvements offer...my goal when I started working on PTV skins was to eventually reach the level of the WMC skin and I honestly think the new PTVL skins written with these enhancements in mind, are a huge leap over what was previously possible, and on the level of the WMC skin.

Just to piggy back on this...

I know that when I started working on PTV skins the goal was to make something that had the same feel as the WMC/set too box interface but with more style obviously...

The advent of API key/Dynamic art additions in the latest update is definitely one giant leap toward that. The new skins being written now that are designed to take advantage of those enhancements are significantly advanced over anything that was previously possible with PTVL and I think are finally on the level of the WMC/set top box guide interfaces.
Hopefully Friday, I will release my next update...

It will include:

Local genre EPG coloring
Local Dynamic artwork
LiveTV genre EPG coloring
Local Dynamic artwork

I cleaned up the default skin and added new enhancements.

If you are using LiveTV, and your not interested in Dynamic artwork... There are still benifets to having TVDB/TMDB/FanartTV enabled... such as
Seasons/Episode numbering, updated Description, including episode names...

Hey Luna - i noticed you have 'Automatic Bumpers, Commercials and Trailers' set as 50% complete. I was wondering what level of functionality if any exists there at the moment? I had a play with the settings but haven't seen any change to my channels, so was just curious.
Is anyone else having problem with the EPG closing and then the program itself shutting closing when you scroll past an item with slightly unusual characters? Aka, Wall.E, or Alien3?

I just want to see if that's just me before I start pulling logs...

It's a bug... haven't tracked it down yet. Please send me a log after every encounter... it's an easy fix only if I know where the problem is.

How do you guys store your media... do you use a standard format like:

Code:
/TVshows/Hell on Wheels/Season1
                       /Season2
                       /Season3/Mediafile.ext

I ask because I would like to add an option to download missing local art when its queued for display in the EPG or Overlay... Problem is making sure I save the file to the correct location...

I store mine in the same way with slightly different folder names.

I am not sure exactly what to expect here Luna. But here is my experience - when I enable tvdb, tvdb fanart and sickbeard and click force reset my epg for live tv takes a very long time to populate especially compared to when those are not ticked. In the epg the fanart works great on my local media but I am not seeing anything on live tv as far as fanart. All I see on live tv is the grey tv that has been there since I started using the addon. I do have api keys for tvdb, fanart.tv and tmdb but have not enabled the last two yet.

The first parse with tvdb/tmdb/fanart.tv enabled will be lengthy and depends on the amount of LiveTV channels you have setup.
After the initial parse, load times should be very fast... Unless you have background updating disabled.

Read post 2 under skinning for information on dynamic artwork, but if your parsing went well; LiveTV should have season/episode number including episode name, and artwork for the show. If parsing failed to find information PTVL will default to a gray background or a static image of what is currently playing...

its still a little buggy right now but Fridays update should fix a few things.
