Win Hdmi Audio and Onboard Audio
#1
Hi Guys

I have a problem, I have xbmc working fine through my amd card via hdmi. I also want to use headphones via onboard for when the wife goes to sleep.

Is there a way to use both hdmi and onboard audio? or switch between the two easily?

Hi.
In Settings>System>Audio Output (left popup menu) you can change between HDMI and Analog (soundcard) output.
There are also audio out settings in the window when a movie is playing.
No exact answer, because you setup won't be the same as mine.
All I can say is that I can change from HDMI to analog on my windows PC.

Ok, i dont know if it is possible but can i not make a keybinding to switch between hdmi and analog audio. So basically i press a button on the remote and it alternates between the two?

I run my signal through a receiver and send video to tv, audio to speakers and audio to the headset through thoslink Smile

Been reading off forum and they are using this method.

Windows 7 (english)
FIRST:
Open Control Panel
Click "Sound"
Click the "Playback" Tab
Right-click "Realtek Digital Output" and click "Set as Default Device" (if the option is not available, it is already default)
THEN:
Click the "Recording" Tab
Right-click "Stereo Mix" and Click "Enable" (if disabled)
Right-click "Stereo Mix" again and click "Set as Default Device"
Right-click "Stereo Mix" yet again and click "Properties"
Click the "Listen" tab
Check "Listen to this device"
Under "Playback through this device:" select "Speakers"
Click OK to close Stereo Mix Properties.
Click OK to close Sound Devices
So to be clear, the Default Playback Device must be "Realtek Digital Output" (digital) and the Default Recording Device must be "Stereo Mix" 'listening' to: "Speakers." If you set it the other way around you will not be able to enjoy any multi-channel audio as everything will be downmixed to 2.0 audio.

I will let you guys know if it works.
