For a couple of weeks now my XBMC installation which has been running fine for the last few months has suddenly become very slow when returning to the home screen after a video stops playing.

I think this is a python performance problem. The specific lines of interest in the log file are: 250, 289, 310, 359, 516 where the python interpreter takes from 30 seconds to well over a minute to load. Sometimes, the python interpreter is initialised within seconds, for example at lines 185, 186, 194, 577 and 584.

I'm using XBMCBuntu with Frodo 12.2 and the Transparency skin.
