Hi guys

I have trouble getting my 12.2 XBMC to play a specific rental DVD, all other DVDs i've tried work just fine.

Update: VLC playback works if i give it about two minutes to start. Unusually long?

Playback of the DVD in VLC also fails, however with Arcsoft TMT5 playback is fine.

Does any of you have a good idea as to what might be the issue?

There's really no error message other than to say it's having issues opening that DVD ,the DVD disk might have some sort of problem (scratch etc) that errors out XBMC quickly, while VLC might have some sort of retry the disk multiple times effort and either manages to function without the requested data or the retries pull in sufficient data to work (there maybe be a skip routine here).

Your success with the Arcsoft player is notable in that DRM might be an issue.... My suggestion would be to copy this disk to file if you can (which eliminates that possibility of disk error) and see how various players react.
