minix neo x5 vs raspbmc
#1
I have recently bought the minix neo x5, intending to use it as a htpc, however I am appalled at how poorly it performs whilst running xbmc (regular android build).

I am considering sending it back and buying a raspberry pie, however I don't want to do this if it stutters as much as the minix does.

I want to play media over my nas, and from a 1tb harddrive with its own power supply
Has anybody tried both of these? Which is better?

The Pi will handle almost any video you throw at it - its limitations are more to do with slow menu changes and other functions that depend on the CPU speed. You should however be prepared to spend some time playing with settings (e.g. overclock) to get the best out of it.
I would also keep in mind that a wireless network connection is often a bigger cause of playback issues than any device limitations. If you were using the minix wrirelessly, then it's worth trying it out using wired ethernet (if you can) before sending it back.
