Linux Bad sound on video's
#1
Here's the deal. On my Ubuntu-machine the video's have bad (distorted) sound. Mp3's sound fine, and the problem doesn't occur on my other instances of XBMC (iOS and Android). Plus, when I play video's directly through Ubuntu's native videoplater, everything is fine. So my guess it's pretty much the XBMC software which causes the prob.

Any ideas what to do to solve the problem?

You are missing a proper graphics driver.

Sound is dropping every some seconds. Your gpu uses the OSS noveaou driver, which does not support vdpau.

That also does not look nice:
Quote:16:57:13 T:2858416960 ERROR: CDVDPlayerVideo::OpenStream - Invalid framerate 1000, using forced 25fps and just trust timestamps

Which gpu do you have?

XBMC lists the CPU as Gallium 0.4 on NVAA.

Strange thing is that everything was fine up until a week or so ago.

I tried using some of the restricted drivers, sadly no luck. Suggestions, anyone?

Seems your 8200 does not have vdpau. But the logs looks a whole lot better. Did this logfile show the issue?

Well, it does show a number of faults. I'll try googling some of them, perhaps there's something there. No luck with the restricted drivers, btw. And I'm not quite sure I even own a 8200, so I'll basically go back to the drawingboard for now.

Well, went back but no results. Updated nividia-drivers through Synaptic, tried different restricted drivers, but sound on vids is still not fixed.

Some info on the vid-card:

description: Co-processor
product: MCP78S [GeForce 8200] Co-Processor
vendor: NVIDIA Corporation

New debug log: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=74453

Looks pretty screwed up... any thoughts?
