Transcode AAC 5.1 to Dolby/DTS 5.1 for receiver
#1
I have a Yamaha RX-V459 AV receiver which only supports PCM, Dolby 5.1 and DTS 5.1 over coax.

A lot of my content has an AAC 5.1 soundtrack. My receiver does not support AAC so I disabled that feature. But, I only get 2.0 sound from these channels (I can see the two speaker icons on my receiver only compared to normal 5.1 surround with all 6 speakers), and it's transmitted over uncompressed PCM.

Is it possible to make XBMC transcode the AAC 5.1 into Dolby or DTS 5.1, so I get surround sound content from these files?

Thanks

Depending on the version of XBMC and the platform you are using this is already possible and automagically done.

I'm on XBMC 12.2. It doesn't appear to work, unless I'm missing something? Is this an XBMC 13 feature?

I am using the default AVR SPDIF settings suggested here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Aud...ings_Guide
