Linux TRIM not enabled on 12.2? Help?
#1
ok using my newly bought SSD's was setting up some new boxs and something is amiss..

Kingston SSDNow 60gb v300
set to ACHI in bios

fresh 12.2 image downloaded from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/XBMCbuntu/

clean install, everything fine

adjusted fstab

UUID=fba541f9-f882-43d2-afdf-1adb55fd32e3 / ext4 errors=remount-ro,noatime,discard 0 1

rebooted and then used test here

https://sites.google.com/site/lightrush/...andworking

and.... still get sectors full of 'stuff' instead of all zeros

for the heck of it, I did an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade

cat /proc/version
Linux version 3.5.0-40-generic (buildd@batsu) (gcc version 4.7.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.7.2-2ubuntu1) ) #62-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 22 00:57:36 UTC 2013

re-ran above test and still no zeros

help?

little more info

hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep -i trim
* Data Set Management TRIM supported (limit 1 block)
* Deterministic read data after TRIM
