NFS Setup and mounted directories
#1
Hi guys,

I have setup NFS on my Ubuntu server to use with XBMC and I was wondering if I need to mount the directories as described in the https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpNFSHowTo guide? Basically I just added the path in the /etc/exports files from my Ubuntu server, those directories are not mounted in a /exports directory as described in the guide. What's the advantage of having them mounted?

Thanks.

Mounting uses the operating system features for accessing your NFS export. If you only wanna use the NFS stuff from within XBMC you don't need to mount then but can just add them as regular source (similar to SMB or FTP) with nfs://<ip>/<exportname> ... see NFS (wiki)
