Linux Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto)
Nice, not really any change in there in comparison to the rc6, just rebased the three patches onto latest kernel git.

Please try the kernel from here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1538987
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I think the hardware (HD4290 (UVD2) with AMD Sempron 140) is not enough powerfull for this file. I will try with a AMD Athlon II X4 610e.

Today, I tried with an AMD Athlon II X2 245e.

I get the sound but no video (display is still on xbmc file view)
Is something wrong or just the hardware can't decode this file ?
@Dradge:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/6329519/ <- You don't have h264 / vc1 accel at all

I am not sure the HD4290 is the reason

HD4290 is UVD2. Have you an idea why I don't have h264 /vc1 accel ?
Nope, sorry - I would have told it directly, but you are not missing any obvious packages.

Wanna ask #dri-devel people for that
i have also audio-drops @ 24p Sad

When I switch to 50/60Hz, I have no audio-drops...but no 24p :/

Does it matter whether 24p or 50Hz?
Watch some movies and see for yourself :-)

Best for you is, what you find best and works out for you.

Technically it makes a lot difference.

I asked radeon developpers and they are waiting to be allowed (by AMD ?) to release (work on ?) code for UVD2.
The recent rc7+ 0.1 kernel is too unstable for me. Same bugs as with the early rc6 versions.
Audio player crashes XBMC after 10min and screen disco.

Reverting back to rc6+ 0.7
Okay. Thanks for the logfiles.

The recent rc7+ 0.1 kernel...
xbmc seems to work, but I cannot use skype as the microphone device has disappeared!
Oibaf is now ready for Saucy.

If someone has time, please verify the howto to work completely on Saucy and I will change the relevant steps, that you will find out.

I am sadly notoriously short on time and cannot test this.
