MPEG-2 update: Well, after updating yesterday (3.13 final and wsnipex test) things got interesting! I now have SD (MPEG-2) recordings that either:
And it appears to be reproducable now - as in the same clips produce the same effects.
Oooh and pipelight hardware decoding seems busted - unless someone knows better

My MythTV experience has been great with 0.27 FWIW - live tv is much improved over 0.26!
The only issue is one backend has a BGT3600 (BG seem to be a bit slow updating the Linux drivers) and I seem to be loosing the end of some recordings - as in the recording just stops!
- Play fine.
- Play with sound, trigger a GPU reset, catchup the video and then continue normally.
- Start playing but with a green checkerboard that randomly appears!
