Intel NUC - Haswell (4th Generation CPU)
#76
Is WOL confirmed for the NUC from S5? Still haven't had any concrete answers yet..

And can you use the internal pulse eight HDMI-CEC? or should I go external just to be safe?

Plan on picking one up for Xmas.

I haven't read anything about WOL, maybe this is just a step too far for reviewers to set up. Once they start shipping and people get to play around with them I'm sure we'll have some concrete answers.

I'm not familiar with HDMI-CEC but this might be useful to you? Haven't read anything else regarding HDMI-CEC and this NUC though...

Quote:Once freed from the chassis the included heatsink and fan (HSF) is the most dominant feature on the underside of the board, but it also includes Intel’s custom solutions, or HTPC, header which provides access to HDMI CEC and the REC_LED functionality. Unfortunately a more forgiving chassis with space for the Pulse-Eight internal CEC adapter is not yet available, so it was not possible to test this feature. When one does appear, we’ll be sure to grab a 2.0mm-to-2.4mm USB adapter and give it a go.

http://missingremote.com/news/2013-09-18...tpc-header
Quote:If you saw the recent Intel Haswell NUC D54250WYK announcment and thought "hey, that would make a pretty slick HTPC" - go ahead and sit down. Not only does it have all the good stuff like IR, SATA, USB 3.0, etc. that we mentioned before. It also has the HTPC_HEADER on board.

Unfortunately, there isn't space in the stock chassis to mount the Pulse-Eight internal CEC adapter so a custom enclosure will be required to get the most out of it. That said, frankly I don't care - this is awesome news!

Hopefully someone steps up to make a suitible enclosure or we will have to do something on Kickstarter Smile.

I have the external, I have no idea if there is enough space to get the internal one in...space looks tight. Obviously the wise move would be to just wait and see, but something tells me from the pictures I've seen it would possibly be a struggle. The communication from pulse 8 is pretty good, so I'm sure they can let you know sizes.

Does this not suggest there isn't enough space Tongue?

Thanks!

You just tell your Harmony One that you have a Windows Media Center remote control, which works natively with XBMC, and should work fine with the NUC IR. None of that will be 100% confirmed until the boxes start shipping and people try it out.

I bought this http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY%C2%AE-Windo...994&sr=8-1
and it doesn't seem to work with my i3 NUC on OpenELC with the built in IR. I see on the intel website there's IR drivers. I'm hoping there's a remote or something that works with OpenELEC.

Hmm what drivers? The only ones I found were 'Infrared: Nuvoton* Consumer Infrared (CIR) Driver for Intel® NUC'. Google seems to think that its only needed for 'Nuvoton' remotes?

Also we are talking about the new haswell NUCs that have built in IR, your NUC has had IR added to it, I don't know if there is any difference to this?

I really like the design of this remote but I wonder how well it works in OE? Is the button mapping good out of the box?And is it customizable by changing the Lircmap/remote.xml like every other IR-Remote?

I'm almost certain he doesn't have it...the only people that do are reviewers and they have prototypes. They have also had them since late September / early October so he's been pretty quiet if he does in fact have one. I figured he has one of the ivy ones and added an IR to it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, Selene
