It does not appear the integrated IR in the Haswell boxes is working under Linux, at least no one has reported getting it to work.

Please, help a noob.
Which version of OE should I install for i5 d54250WYK NUC?

Has anyone confirmed it works with Windows yet though? I know we've been theorizing it but I don't think anyone has come out and said it works perfectly or have they? Just wondering if it is just Linux that isn't working or the whole IR.

Its odd that the hardware isn't even detected on the pci or usb bus on linux. If its there it should be showing up even as 'unknown device'.

According to the technical product specification (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_...umentation), it's connected to the LPC bus. Does it show up in "lspnp"?

Doesnt look like OE has the lspnp command or lpc.This is the pain with OE, great system but hard to troubleshoot. I think I might try ubuntu minimal over the weekend to see if it works any better.

I think this is it:
Code:
$ cat /sys/bus/pnp/devices/00\:08/id
NTN0530

Trying to load the driver nuvoton-cir gives the following error:
Code:
nuvoton-cir 00:08: IR PNP Port not valid!

I found this in my boot messages:
Code:
[    0.167361] pnp 00:08: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs NTN0530 (disabled)

I'm not at all familiar with ACPI, but my guess is that the device isn't allocated io and irq resources and that's why the driver fails to load.

Try to enable the device:
Code:
$ echo "auto" | sudo tee /sys/bus/acpi/devices/NTN0530\:00/physical_node/resources
auto
$ cat /sys/bus/acpi/devices/NTN0530\:00/physical_node/resources
state = disabled
io 0x240-0x24f
irq 3
io 0x250-0x25f

And load the driver:
Code:
$ sudo modprobe nuvoton-cir debug=1

Testing with
Code:
$ sudo mode2 -d /dev/lirc0
reports events when I point a random remote at it and push buttons. Smile

@lmyllari: Good stuff. But it didnt work for me unfortunately. I was able to confirm that I was getting the same message in my boot log. The tee and modprobe seem to go without error but I still do not see lirc0 show up in dev. irw doesnt see anything and mode2 error out.

Are you using OE? I ask because you mention sudo in your commands but should not need that.

Thanks for the help.

Same report as aesalazar on the commands. The good news is that a harmony 900 can wake the CIR up from S6 by sending a Microsoft MCE power command. Now for making it work in OE...
