I haven't yet had that, I'll let you know if I did though.

What XBMC version? I'm using Nov 18 nightly running Aeox Nox 4.09

Might be a skin issue, since it flickers sometimes when editing skin features. Will test. I'd use confluence but Ican't find a way to make it look decent.

Oh yeah maybe, I'm actually just using 12.2 and 4.0 aeon nox lol. So could be from that.

Tried enabling true full screen and it didn't work. XBMC just stops responding, mouse won't move, no "working", nothing. Then a long time later it will start playing, but seeking breaks it again. Are you guys running wired or wireless?

Also, I'm running 12.2 with the base skin.

Is anyone else having problems with bit-streaming of HD audio as someone reported a page back? That's another serious problem if doing SW decoding is what is causing the limitation.

I wouldnt dream of running a huge file like that wirelessly.

With the r16406 build from from a couple pages back i had screwy/cracking audio if I had the nuc do the processing. If I sent the DTS signal and let the reciever do the decoding it's fine. I was about to switch back.

Colors are correct!
Software decoding now has multithreading option that works!

I was able to fully decode the two 40Mbps clips I tried.

My setup: Intel Haswell i3 NUC

--- STEPS ---
- Use the Nov. 20 Generic build here (x64): http://sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/Ope...r16406.tar

- Create autostart.sh
Quote:echo "#!/bin/sh" > /storage/.config/autostart.sh && chmod +x /storage/.config/autostart.sh
- Edit autostart.sh to include RGB and IR fixes
Quote:nano /storage/.config/autostart.sh
Paste inside autostart.sh file
Quote:# RGB fix
DISPLAY=:0 xrandr --output HDMI1 --set "Broadcast RGB" "Full"

# IR fix
modprobe -r nuvoton_cir
echo "auto" > /sys/bus/acpi/devices/NTN0530\:00/physical_node/resources
modprobe nuvoton_cir

In XBMC
1. Settings->Video
- Enable "Expert" level at the bottom of the left-hand menu

2. Settings->Video->Playback
- Disable VAAPI
- Enable "Frame Multi Threaded Decoding"

3. Settings->System
- Enable "Use limited colour range (16-235)"

That's it!

Video calibration tests all pass and the i3 is able to handle at least 40Mbps MKV files with software decoding (I've only tried two of them, and nothing of higher bitrate). But, for comparison, one of the 40Mbps files would only play at 12fps before Multi Threaded Decoding, now it plays at 24fps!

A great big thank you to lmyllari for all the hard work and dedication in researching these issues and helping everyone understand them!
Where to Enable "Frame Multi Threaded Decoding? I cant find it under settings-video-playback.

I have the external, I have no idea if there is enough space to get the internal one in...space looks tight. Obviously the wise move would be to just wait and see, but something tells me from the pictures I've seen it would possibly be a struggle. The communication from pulse 8 is pretty good, so I'm sure they can let you know sizes.

Watch out the pinouts! Intel Haswell NUC provide different pin layout than other motherboards supported by HDMI-CEC adapter. I'm confused because of missunderstanding in the Intel's documentation. Ones they write SMBUS but in table is DMIC or sth like that. Anyway the standard Pulse8 cable is not correct for this motherboard.

I did enable expert settings but there is no Frame Multi Threaded Decoding, exactly between which options is it located under Playback?

I use JVC X95/RS66 and was so dissapointed with the NUC, but i have to thank Alchete and Imyllari and others for your work and help in this thread. So wondurful to have guys that help nnobs like me and others with these things.

Now if someone can help me find the frame multi threaded decoding?

Another great thing that seems to wotk nice now is the sound after unpausing. Before my prepro Integra 80.3 always got the sound back in 2-3 seconds, now the sound comes directly when unpausing. It keeps the signal and dont have to look for what signal it gets.
Excuse my poor explanation in english, dont know the name of all terms.

merlinn - if you're getting lag make sure your sound configurations in windows are set up right and you're not using direct sound.

Nope.. ! Not that. But I'm glad I downgraded anyways. -- It's a result of Refresh rates

RT, you need to be running the latest daily build, also as linked at the top of the instructions.

The multithreading option is only available in this build.

Has anyone managed to figure out why the power button no longer works when you press it? Mine only responses to my remote now. I'm not too worried but it is going to be rather annoying down the line if I need to start without a remote?
