Krusty I owe you and other thread readers an apology, I thought you said that it takes half an hour to upload a half hour show and then another half hour to watch it = 1 hour.

On re reading you said it takes 1 hour to upload, so what you werre saying now makes perfect sense. Sorry (and of course I didn't do the math, silly boy that I am).

So to conclude, if you have the necessary bandwidth and set up a VPN for Samba it should work fine. It is possible to use Samba directly over the internet but it's an extremely bad idea and many ISPs block the necessary ports because you simply shouldn't do it.

I know the Mediabrowser group would be able to handle this request if the data is handed over to their API. Since they are WMC centric I think this would be great if you guys can get together for the live TV portion. That way the rest of us can have a simplified medthod for remote viewing ALL of our media from one interface with the stability of WMC as a backend.
