TvHeadEnd has epg, but doesnt show in XBMC
#1
Firstly apologies if this has been answered elsewhere - I can't find it.

I have a Tvheadend setup on a separate machine to XBMC. The muxes are tuned, and I can watch live TV on XBMC, The channel names are displaying fine. However, I do not get any epg information on XBMC. The list of events/epg is available in TvHeadend. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to correct this.

BTW when I start XBMC I see a message saying it is downloading the epg, but still nothing appears.

Thanks for your help.

Post a debug log to xbmclogs.com, then reset the PVR database and try again.

This is sorted now. I discovered that I didn't have the most recent version of Tvheadend. Even when I did it seems I needed to reboot the computer before the uptodate version could be used.

As soon as i got this sorted, and spent some time setting the Muxes and the channel numbers up everything started to work perfectly.

Thanks for your help.

same issue here with both, recent nightly and unstable builds of team-xbmc ppa for ubuntu.
neither beta 3.5 nor unstable 3.9 tvheadend changed anything, nor did a git build of pvr.hts.

channels and recordings show just fine, my xbmc.log looks the same.
The "Loading EPG data .. "-bar appears for a few seconds but does not fill.

update:
it was just the "loading channels .. "-bar. EPG one does not show at all

I am very much a newbie so I can't really advise, but now my epg is loading it takes a noticeable time to load the epg, say 30secs to a minute (admittedly on a raspberry pi) as you say the loading bar appears for only a few seconds I wonder if XBMC is actually finding any data to load. If so to me this would indicate that the problem is something to do with how TVHeadend is actually saving the data. Have a look around there are lots of threads that indicate there might be permission problems causing the data not to be stored.

Although the log file does indicate it is connecting to the most recent version of TVheadend, are you sure it is the most recent that is running and therefore producing the epg data. This seemed to have been the problem in my case. Although I had installed the most recent version, it was an older version that was running in spite of me stopping and starting the process a number of times. A reboot cleared the problem.

As I say I am no expert, but is it possible that the epg data is stored in a file which you could check for data of some sort.

The EPG is broken in the latest nightlies (well, I broke it), it should be fixed soon. Though some of your problems sound unrelated.

Thank you both for your reply, my tvheadend is fine and store the data nice, with other clients its all ok.

@negge thank you for this information !! I have already done a rollback to my backup but will try it again if it is fixed. Could you please give me a hint when its fixed ?

@negge: shame on you for breaking it, but thx for reporting back and fixing. With latest nightly of 2013-12-12 it is working again.

I wonder why alpha 10 didn't work for me ... an unlucky combination with an older pvr plugin i guess
