Win HD Live TV choppy
#1
Hello,
WMC backend is really good, I have almost no problem with it. Except when I look live TV on a HD channel. The video is choppy but the audio is ok. SD live TV is ok.
I use the margro version of Frodo 12.3 on a windows 8.1 x64, but I have the same problem with the original 12.3. I use the last version of ServerWMC and wmc.pvr. My PC is a i5 haswell with 8GB, the video is on the integrated intel HD.
I tried to pause the stream then unpause, but still choppy. It's not a buffer problem.
In the directory of the stream, there are two files: one ts and one wtv. If I read the wtv with xbmc, it's choppy. If I read the ts with xbmc, it's ok. I don't know which one is used by the client, but it seems to be the wtv.
I don't know what to do to resolve this problem.
Anyone can help le with this?

Regards

Marco

This sounds like an XBMC bug that has been fixed in Gotham. If you are able to, try the latest Gotham nightly builds (backup your userdata first if you want to go back to Frodo afterwards) to see if this fixes it for you

Thank you. It works better with gotham. Too bad it wasn't in the 12.3 fixes.
To sum up, in order to fix excessive drop with live tv in hd format, you must use gotham.

Just to clarify for new users, it's important to note that this problem only occurs on some channels in Europe, like BBC1. Otherwise frodo plays back fine.

Ok, that must be the same problem I have. BBC and ITV is choppy - also looked like lip sync for me......

If I update to Gotham now, I guess I'd have to change Skins too to match possibly? Might just be easier to wait for final releases?

What skin problem is there with gotham? As to whether to wait for final release of gotham is up to you. I have switched my media computers to gotham now and have no issues.

I downloaded the Margo Gotham version of XBMC tonight, I still have the choppy playback afterwards though oddly.......this is on HD channels, but I also lose audio on SD channels on a Compro tv tuner. All drivers are up to date and working fine in WMC direct.

I'm running Aeon MQ5, I assumed I'd have to change to a Gotham version of that skin too if I upgraded?

Actually that's a good point about the Margro version of xbmc, I don't know if the fixes to the stuttery playback have been included in it. It sounds like from your result that they have not.

Don't about the audio problem. Is it possible xbmc is playing wrong audio stream? If so, try setting the output to remux one language in the Live TV tab of serverwmc.

If there is a gotham skin for mq5 I think it will update automatically when you switch.

I guess I could install a standard Gotham and test?

Yep, the skin did update Smile

yeah grab a gotham nightly and test. Probably margro's most recent build was from prior to the fix occuring...

Problem solved, and BBC 1 and 2 HD, ITV and Channel 4 HD all running smoothly.

Gotham does cure it, but slows down channel changing until Margro gets his version sorted.....
