Hi folks,

I've generated the .strm files for my hdhr and I've added them as a video source. When attempting to play the files it's unable to do so.

Any help would be appreciated. Thinking of buying the newer hdhr4 which has the DLNA support, dunno if that would help though.

EDIT: Just noticed the channel streams found by the hdhomruntoolbox may not have been "found" properly. I.e.

hdhomerun://103B5340-1/tuner1 19.1 TVO?channel=auto:CHNOTFOUND&program=1

When trying to open this in VLC, it will also not play.

I had issues generating STRM files as well. I ended up making a ton manually. I gave up since I have the HDHomeRun Prime, which has the UPnP/DLNA option, and it works great in XBMC.

I'm sure the STRM method just needs some minor adjustment in how it makes the files.

Thinking to upgrading to the HDHR4 which also has the DLNA option if it will save me some headaches. How do you activate the channels in XBMC with a HDHR which has DLNA? Is it easy?

It automatically generates a directory in XBMC (or just about any app that is also a UPnP client) of all channels found. It even handles multiple devices trying to access the UPnP/DLNA server at the same time, when multiple tuners are available. It's so much nicer than the old STRM method. No prep work is required at all in XBMC.
