[Solved] Playback colour issue
#1
I've come across an odd issue.

Every so often only a certain channel so far (Sky Sports 1 HD) I have an issue where when selecting the channel it works fine for about 1 second then there's a major colour issue where the brightness of the stream looks to disappear. Sometimes restarting XBMC or TVH sorts it. This time it hasn't.

It's shown here

where the final channel selection is the one with the issue.

Currently using:
XBMC 12.3 stable
TVHeadend - Master - 3.9.311~gb69b764
ubuntu 12.04
Nvidia Driver Version: 331.20 - GT 620

If I play the channel via HTTP through an M3U playlist it works 1st time every time.

I'll get a debug log later.

Has anyone else seen something similar?

Here's the log.

Three attempts at playing the channel. All result in the colour issue.

Try disabling vdpau in video playback settings, maybe your card died...
Also, try VLC against tvheadend with the plugin https://tvheadend.org/boards/4/topics/8509 to see if you get the same issue.

I'll give it a go but my card is working fine for every other channel using VDPAU. VDPAU is also being used when streaming the channel via HTTP (rather than using the Live TV interface).

Stream works fine in VLC on Windows 7 but I'll try the HTSP plugin.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Only the one channel as far as I can tell.

Just a random guess but maybe its the 29/59 bug? Have you tried turning off dynamic contrast or any of the other automatic nvidia video features?

Is that a Windows only issue? (I'm on ubuntu but I'll have a look)

How very odd.

I deleted the channel completely from TVH then remapped and the issue is gone. Only happened on one XBMC box and only in PVR mode, could be streamed via HTTP fine.

Anyway, problem solved I guess.
