XBMC Flicks for Rpi OpenElec
#1
Hi there

I have a current Netflix account and I am looking to run Netflix within XBMC on my Rpi running OpenElec 3.2.4.

I went into the forums and discovered "spudsdude-XBMC-Flicks-a644263.zip" on Github.

I tried to install it and it give me "add on does not have the correct structure"

A few questions

1. Should this install straight from XBMC (Frodo 12.3)
2. Is this the right add on for accessing Netflix through XBMC interface
3. Should it work with Rpi OpenElec (I got the same error on my XBMC 12.2 on ATV2)

I have checked thr forum and can not find a similar scenario

You really need look at this:

And realise that it won;t work on a pi as pis run linux and plugin(silverlight) required is not supported by linux. And then you might google around and find pipelight - then you might find that although this does work on linux getting it to work on a rpi would be quite involved. If you get pipelight working on your pi - (perhaps two or three weeks later) you would probably find the performance is a bit rubbish.

BTW this is all stuff I found out using google and this forum.

thanks I may have to consider buying the PlayOn Media server and running this on a local windows machine as a UPnP device and streaming from this to Netflix on XBMC

The only Netflix solution possible at the moment involves a separate PC.
PlayOn and Plex are possibilities.

Looks like raspbmc are working on another solution (which still involves a PC):

thanks I will look out for it and change from OpenElec when this happens. Might give Plex or PlayOn a go in the meanwhile.

OK I spent about an hour trying out Plex on a separate Windows PC. It installed great and worked perfectly from a windows machine. The media server installed fine and the client installed OK and could access the server. There were 2 issues.

1. There is no Netflix plug-in for Plex that I can find on the Plex media server to set up the streaming.
2. I do not know where to find a plex plug-in for the XBMC on the Rpi to access the Plex server (I can access it via UPnP no problem as a share)

Am I trying to do the impossible?

It does appear Plex has dropped Netflix support in latest version. There is a report here that downgrading to version .97 does have working Netflix:

But I've never tried it, and it doesn't sound ideal to be stuck on a older Plex version.

Thanks. Will look into that and if not try PlayOn.
