So I finally have my hdhomerun prime setup with xbmc. After i had the Prime setup with Windows Media Center, i installed ServerWMC. The xbmc PVR frontend was pretty easy to configure to work with ServerWMC. Navigating through the PVR menus on the Pi is a bit slow (as expected) but once the channel is chosen it surprisingly streams HD very clearly with no lag.

For kicks I setup XBMC on other Windows PCs on my LAN and the interface is so much quicker to navigate. Everything is connected with gigabit LAN with this setup so I dont know how significant of a lag would occur if I were on 10/100.

I think 100M would be fine, in fact I don't think your network speed being 100 or 1000 will make any difference to your navigation speed.
